Why do so many of you buy so many chicks?

Never had a chick in my life until October when I got 6. Thought my life was complete. Then one turned out to be a rooster so we had to rehome him. Life with 5 just didn't seem right, so we had to replace the one we lost. With 9 more.

I learned chicken math really quick.

You think chicken math is funny? Wait until you graduate into coop math. And I'm just a small-time backyard chicken girl... if only I had a farm!

I can't imagine why 25 chickens seems like a lot of chickens! That is quite a small flock as far as flocks go...anything less is just....well....not worth the trouble.

I keep mine for eggs, egg sales or donating, meat, pest control, beauty and simplicity and because I can.

buff orpingtons are beautiful!!! where did you order from?

I started with 20, 2 years ago, and after one hatch, and an order for meat chickens with a few more layers added in to help keep the meaties warm, (chicks are cheaper the more you order you know) I have a total of 40something. I was thinking about how many eggs to pull out for yet another hatch this year. We are also in the process of building a bigger coop. Oh, wait, that means I'll have 2 coops! Hmmmmmmmm...............

go for it! then claim it must have been a mix up! you order 2 of number 5...it is believable

Hah! Good idea. I am tempted. I can see that this forum will be a good influence on me. hehe

It is more like we are a bunch of people enabling each other on here. It is like the Anti Chickens Anonymous. Not to be confused with Antichickens, we are just the anti anonymous ones.
Maybe that makes us Unanimous?
