Why do some attachments look like this?

Looks like this on my tablet and my phone, but look normal on my computer.

That apppens on my phone sometimes too. I think my connection is sometimes not wonderful. When I click on an attachment, even when I can see the entire thumbnail, it sometimes takes a long time to load. Joys of living in the boonies!

I think sometimes the phones just have a need to be evil to us , we do appreciate all you ladies do to help us newbies out though

I believe it has to do with internet connection/speed at the time it's uploaded or when viewing it.

Maybe it's the memory speed on the tablet. The RAM.
