I gave my Mama hen a worm -- which she dropped -- one of her four-day-old bantam babies grabbed it it, ran like crazy... and discovered she was too too little to fit it in her mouth and eat it. LOL Too funny.

Probably for the same reason that little humans chase each other around and scream. It's not like they can play kick the can, or hopscotch.
