why do you have to leave eggs for 24 hours?

    i got eggs of ebay and it said on the page to leave eggs at room heat for 24 hours
    why is this?

    It helps the air cells settle after all the jostling and lets them come to the right temperature for your area. Let them rest big end up for a day before you set them.

    It brings them to room temperature from colder shipping temperatures in unheated trucks, for one thing. But the other reason is to allow any jostled air sacs in the eggs to come to rest from their jumbled around shipping experience.
