Why do your chickens like you?

Mostly treats, except for my cross beak. She will hop up on my lap and cuddle with me for as long as I let her at any chance she gets. She has a hard time with treats, so it's not that with her. The other five, no question. It's all about the treats.

I am the grape, rice, and pea lady..... They will knock (peck) at the back door until they get a treat..... They are soooo spoiled...

i don't really give them treats that often, but they come and sit on my lap and nap a couple of times a day.

i wish i knew exactly what they are thinking when they do it. they don't like me touching them that much when they do it, so it can't be that. maybe i'm the rooster or just the big hen they can sit with when their feet are cold.

Mine don't like me. They like my boots.

I put some food on my boots at one point to try to get them used to me.

Now when I come in they all run away til I sit down. Then they mob my boots.

I think if I left the boots they'd be content to never see me again.

We have three girls who FIGHT to be on my lap or DD's lap. One was the boldest baby chick. She was handled alot, early, because she kept flying out of the brooder. The other two were injured (at two weeks and four weeks) and required hands-on care. All will nap and lounge on a lap. Love to be talked to and rubbed. Will peck at another girl if she tries to horn in.
The rest of the chooks are, like, "Whatcha got?!!!"

DH says he can tell by the conversation, tone and excitement level when I walk out the door. Needless to say, they just want me to set in the yard with them, don't even need treats. (wish more humans felt that way about me
