Why does my chicken lay brown and white eggs?

I agree, you have two birds laying. What else do you have in your flock?
I have two layers. Yesterday I got three eggs (messes up the one egg a day math a bit). Today one brown and one white. Never a dull day with chickens! :)

i have 3 rsl hens and for about a week i was getting 6 eggs a day (they were my only chickens at the time). then they stopped laying 1 of them is laying about every 3 days now but the others have stopped i think they have started a slow molt..there combs are a bit shrived. i hope the recover soon and i start getting more eggs again.
also my smallest hen (a barnyardmix) lays my biggest eggs and my biggest hens(waoynotte/plymoth rock mix) lay the smallest??? all 3 of these girls were just gotten (because the rsl stopped laying) so i know they didnt lay the extra eggs before.. i just think its funny how the big girls lay tiny eggs and my baby girl lays woopers (they are in seperate pens.)

Why don't my white hens lay white eggs? My 11 chicks are 6 months and have been laying for a month. I have brown hens, black and white. The eggs are all basically light brown.
I'm getting 10 to 11 eggs a day.

Also why is one of my chickens suddenly without feathers on her behind?

wow that is cool to know. I wondered because sometimes I get 3 deep brown eggs and sometimes they are lighter. I only have 18 hens, some days I get 17-18 eggs, however, some days I get 20-24 eggs! I don't know how, everything I have read indicates that the time for an egg to develop is approximately 24-26 hours. I will just have to say my hens are over achievers.

I know chickens can lay 2 eggs in a day because I only have 5 hens and every once in a while I get 6 eggs in a day. I always gather my eggs everyday at the same time and nothing can get out or in my chicken coop. Also the reason I checked this post is because of the fact I got a white egg from 1 of my hens that have laid nothing but brown eggs since I have raised them from chick's. So I thought it was odd. So i learned something new about the pigment stage of chickens.

My hens have also been laying "ombre" eggs. A single egg colored dark brown fading into cream. What could bee causing this? Diet perhaps?

I have all RIR (5 hens, 1 rooster all 1 1/2 years old) and recently one or two of my hens started laying creamy white eggs. I also noticed the shells were very weak and broke when I picked them up. I started them on Oyster Shell supplement and the shells are stronger, and some of the pigment is coming back, but mostly still light colored. I wonder if it's a sudden calcium deficiency? One of these hens has been eating her egg or not laying at all. So I'm beefing up their diet, and hopefully that will cure what's ailing them.

I didn't know chickens laid more than one egg a day. I have heard people asking the question about that but don't remember anyone saying their chickens ever laid more than one. Lucky you!

My BR's give me one egg per day (7 days a week) with the exception of one who takes Fridays off... All are light brown, same color all the time. I would think that a hen that lays more than one egg per day would soon develop a calcium deficiency, or quit laying all together after a couple of years given that they only have a finite amount to begin with...???

I have been getting soft shelled eggs from one of my girls (I have 6) and yesterday I got a WHITE egg!!! WHAT???? I "think" it is from my Welsummer hen, she happens to be at the bottom of the pecking order and I wonder if the stress they are putting on her has done this! I have added a big dish of crushed shell in the run for them to access at all times, plus they have been on Layer Feed since I got them the beginning of July, they started laying the end of Aug at around 21 weeks... I get 4 to 5 eggs a day, some days only 2.. So I think they are still sorting out the laying thing....Any tips or idea on the white shell would be helpful....
