Hey guys, I have 1 short question. My chicken (Black Australorp, 2 months) keeps rubbing her beak on wood side to side, as if she is sharpening a knife. Is this normal behavior?

Lol, yes! It’s so funny when they do this; looks like they are getting ready to butcher something. I had a chicken who would do that on my foot... I’d say “excuuuuse you, rude!” 🤣

I see this behavior in wild birds too. Since I have gotten my girls, I am convinced it is just to clean their beak off. I only see it when they are feeding in dirt/sandy areas.

Good question. And good answers.
