Why does my Chihuahua mix try too lick me on my lips

Hi I have a Chihuahua that loves to lick and he loves to lick my face and he always ttys too lick me on my lips why does he always want to lick me on the lips is he just saying mama I love you if not what could it be

Face licking is a submissive behavior.

You cannot break this behavior with negative reinforcement because that makes a dog want to be more submissive and you perpetuate the cycle.

No critter licks my lips!!! Your dog is being a polite dog, but remember that she licked her rear end first, and just decline to allow her near your face! If you must, let her lick your hand, or something, and wash up afterward. She's doing what dogs do, but you are the queen, and you can decline to be licked there.
