Why does my Drake keep attacking me?

Hey Vicki,

I've got 5 female ducks and 2 males (not a good ratio). The male ducks will NEVER go out of season and can be brutal to the females. If you don't want to see their bad behavior, you'll have to get rid of them, they won't stop.

They would probably quit attacking you if you had 6+ female ducks with them.

Thanks for shareing your stories I have four ducks and havent even experienced any of the issues yet .. but just added to Mallard chicks . I guess I better study up more on possible problems ..

It's probably mating season... and during this time, depending on the duck, drakes can become very possessive!
If it gets too intense or he hurts your chickens, drop him off at a free range farm!

I looked into finding a new home for my two drakes but I have decided to build an extension onto the chicken pen, this way they can still see each other but the boys cannot get to the hens to try and mate them. They are only around 1 year old, so at least it gives them chance to calm down and if thing really don't improve with them attacking me, maybe next year they will have to go to a nice new home.

What do you all think?

Should they calm down or will they get worse each year during mating season?

Does anyone know how long Aylesbury live for?
