Why does my rooster crow at 8:30AM without fail?

My rooster crows as soon as the sun comes up (around 5:30ish) but he ALSO crows every single morning at 8:30. (or 8:29 or 8:31) Why is this? He doesn't crow at all the rest of the day. I understand that his first crow has something to do with the sun coming up but I can't for the life of me figure out why 8:30 is such a big deal. Anyone have any ideas?

Count your blessings! Some roos crow all day, every day. Mine crow periodically throughout the day with no set rhyme or reason. I would love to have roos that only crow twice per day.

Roosters can and do crow (who really knows why) all thru the day...some of them crow all day long.

With chickens...sometimes there is just no answer to the question 'why'.

I have two roosters and they crow anytime round the clock. Last night they were crowing at 8:30pm, shortly after I closed them in for the night. Today they were crowing at 2:30am. I would love roosters that only crowed when the sun came up.

Mine are only 12 weeks old. They just figured out the crowing thing but as time goes on I'm sure it will increase in frequency.

My friend, who had chickens growing up, was wondering if it had something to do with testosterone levels and how they fluctuate in a 24 hour cycle.

We have 3 roosters possibly 4...1 named big boy and he is a RIR. one named Leo who is a bared rock? Possibly. ..maybe more of a Dominique? They are both just over a year old then we have one that's 4 months chopper who is a black austrolorp and he is the one we go back and forth on but I am almost certain. He is a rooster because he jumps on the back of one of ours hens and pumps her....yet he does not roo at all but our definite bared rock who n is also 4 months was supposed to be a hen and is for sure a rooster and he roos...I love all their roos....they roo at all times...we love them all...we have 23 chickens and one Turkey total.....they love to roo when the kids come out or if we are out there and come inside they roo for us to come back out.

That could be...viable theory.

Could also have to do with activity in or near their area.

Multiple cocks will definitely set each other off...and keep each other going.
Can be for announcing their dominance and superiority....often lower ranking cocks don't crow as much.
