Why does my rooster follow me?

Thank you for commenting! What is your advice on how to stop it?
Mine started to chase me all puffed up, bite, wing dance, and you might notice they begin to mate your hand, it starts with biting your hand and slowly progresses into mating your hand.
All signs he thinks he is more dominant then you and if it progresses he will be a unfixable mess of a jerk!

Here is how i fixed mine: When this started, when he mated my hand i shoved him off and did not back up, run, or back down. When he bit i gave him a little flick to make him flinch (though didn’t make contact) and held his head low and gave him a firm tap as if i pecked his head. I did this each time and never ran away or flinched and instead got in his bubble showing i wasn’t afraid. Fix it ASAP and if all goes well his behavior towards you will be reversed.

I did this for my rooster and he turned into a little angel afterwards so just holding his head down and giving a little tap with my finger for a peck, or pushing him back showing im in charge worked great. Now he loves to snuggle and sleeps in my shirt.
Omg. I’m glad you have this relationship! That’s nice it worked out! Working on being more of a top boss now and less unaware and let’s see what happens! He hasn’t done anything horrible but I want to stay on too of these little rooster things he’s doing.

I’m sure he will be okay. But keep us updated! I hope everything goes well.

Thank you! Appreciate the examples. I’m working on it and being more aware. That’s exactly why I am here for advice because I don’t want these little shuffle dances and a peck once or twice to escalate. Thanks for your help

I will start walking through him more. I definitely don’t let him dominate me but I may be doing things unknowingly that could be working against me. You’re right to remind me they aren’t kittens…. I admit, Part of me likes and enjoy them in that way. Perhaps, that’s wrong or unrealistic. Thanks Mary. Why are you wary of the following around? Do you have any advice on how I should manage that and the dancing shuffling feet?
I think you shouldn't worry about him Dancing, mine does too. I think he flirting. It's awesome when your chickens follow you. If he's not acting you keep doing what you do. I do the same thing and pick him up and pet him. Mine has been mean so I hold him a lot. Not sure it will break his habit but being mean back to him didn't work. Good luck with your chickens. Seems like your doing a great job!
