Mine only sang when one was lost, when I was putting out shavings(Oh no! fear the fluffy wood!), when I started one purpose making them think they were in danger, really anytime but when they were laying. And normally the ones who started it were my roos or drama queen buff orp hens.

I also have some that sing and some that don't. One sings for some but not for others.
