I have a chick and can’t figure out where she got extra toes from… as far as I’m aware none of her breeds have extra toes. Any ideas?(yes inbred I know, she’s not from my flock)

Probably genetic, or she had a twin and she absorbed it. Theres probably hundreds of explanations on why she has extra toes. It just happens sometimes. Ive seen a hen with a rooster foot. You mean with a spur? That's really not uncommon. I've had a handful.rooster foot. But she laid eggs.
Do you actually know if she has any inbreeding in her? Either way she likely wouldn't get a random extra toe on her feet if she had related parents. Birds handle inbreeding far better than mammals.yes inbred
Generally twin eggs aren't viable at all.she had a twin and she absorbed it
my mind kinda went to how mammals are and not birds. Arent "twin eggs" just a large egg with a smaller egg inside or a double yolkerGenerally twin eggs aren't viable at all.
Most are double yolks, which are then ones that rarely make it to hatch for one or both chicks and a very few are 2 embryos with one yolk. Those never make it because there isn't enough nutrition or space for 2 chicks in a normal eggmy mind kinda went to how mammals are and not birds. If she is a she I won’t be keeping her anyways- just keeping her for now to keep my little baby company since her siblings died. And if she’s a he I won’t be keeping him either and will sell him to some sort of pet specific or meat homeIt's a genetic oopsie, happens sometimes. I wouldn't breed that bird so the trait doesn't pass on, as it may have a harder time walking/roosting with toes like that.
Dangit I would check his dad but he died- could it be a Cochin trait? The dad of the dad was believed to be a frizzle cochinView attachment 3626004This rooster has at least one extra toe. The chick probably got it from him.
