Why does your chicken hate you today?

Oh I would be unhappy if someone else's kids had been trying to feed my pets/livestock anything!
My chickens live at a community garden / allotments and I encourage other people to give them stuff like weeds, bugs, veg thinnings and trimmings, produce that's not in the best condition but not actually rotten, etc. One of my neighbours there claims to be growing chickweed specifically for them when he hasn't weeded recently 😂 Some kids came up to see them the other week and I said they could go and pick a few grapes from the polytunnel to give them as a treat, if they wanted. I think it was one of the same boys trying to give them crisps, so really my fault for not explaining at the time what they could and couldn't eat. I'll make up a sign or something when I get round to it.

My laughing hen is having a tantrum over sand being added to the run. They all thought the activity of having the barrier put in was great fun. However the 4 bags of sand added to the back third of the run is unacceptable to her.

She's going to lose her mind when the entire run is sand.

Oh okay, makes way more sense. I was envisioning some kids making their way onto your private property to feed your chickens, lol. That sounds like a really neat setup for your flock!

Yesterday, Daphne and Lavinia took turns yelling at each other to lay or get out of the nest box. I finally got tired of the drama and removed Lavinia -- who proceeded to scream at me with great volume and enthusiasm.

Happy ending: Eventually, both laid eggs and peace was restored.

Haha good old chicken drama! 😂

All of my girls has their own favorite nest, but one screams at me for half an hour that hers isn't adequate. Clearly, her humble servant is a slow learner and should know how to read minds by now. After screaming at me about it, she gives in and sits in that box. Then, she waits for someone else to lay (possibly another hour) and after that one lays, jumps on their box where she finally decides to get rid of her egg. I've tried fake and real eggs in her box but she throws them out if she sees them
