I hate going to the doctor. I am usually in worse shape when I leave than I was when I went it because of my anger over how long I have to wait. It has to hurt like the dickens before I will subject myself to nurses who dont care and doctors who blow me off as "just another hypochondriac"! So I decided after a weekend of pain that kept me up wimpering all night that I would go in yesterday morning. The nurses told me that the doc was available all morning so I should come in right away. I come in, wait for 45 minutes and tell them I have to get to work soon. They tell me that the good doctor has not even come in for the day!!! Um excuse me? So I go plunk my butt down and fume silently, texing my raising blood pressure to DH... when FINALLY in walks the doctor. His attitude was immediately one of "why are you bothering me?" so I tried to just be brief but get the point across that it HURTS or I wouldnt be here! He directs me to lie down, pokes me twice in the stomach, walks out and orders a UA and tells me to take an aspirin and call in 2 days. Uh ok...whatever.

Rewind to last summer, I tell my regualr doc that I have been having these pains and I WANT to be tested for "this". She refuses because she cant be bothered and "oh its nothing". Except I have been living with this "nothing" pain every day for 18 months now...I told DH to write down all the Doctor names I tell him so he knows who to sue for malpractice when I die because they all blew me off on this....

Sorry for the rant but gosh it peeves me that they charge so much to treat me like crap!

Time for a new doctor. I had one who refused to take cronic back pain seriously, after his being dismissive, I swapped over, the new doc does great, we agreed on a priscription to take the edge off the pain without getting me completely stoned (Low tolerance, Nyquil makes me sleep for 12-16 hrs).

Thats my biggest problem, I have been to 3 different doctors. Its this town I swear it is, they all act put-upon to have to see a patient and then tell the patient "its nothing"... I am about to drive the hour to Fargo to see someone there....

It's hard to advicate for yourself when it falls on deaf ears. I'm sure you have heard it before, but find another doctor, one who does care (they are out there). I used to have the best doctor, and wouldn't mind waiting 45 minutes to see him (even if I scheduled an appointment) because I knew he would take the time with me that he had taken with everyone else. Now my doctor sucks, and I am on a quest for the right one.

I hope you find out what that pain is.

I should go back in time with my knowledge of how crappy the Health Care profession is becoming and go to Medical School! Call me crazy but I think that they should care a bit. Not like, bring it home with you at night, cause lord knows I dont worry about any of my clients once 4:30 pm hits, but I do give them my time and attention between 8 and 4:30 every day because thats what I am paid to do!

That sounds soooo familiar! I went to the doctor twice because of a "mystery" pain, and was told both times that there was nothing wrong with me, maybe I'm just constipated. Then, a few months later, I had such severe cramping that I could barely walk...I almost had to crawl to bed. I seriuosly considered calling an ambulance, but I was frustrated with docs so I just went to bed. Tossed and turned all night. The next morning, still in severe pain so I went back to the doc that told me nothing was wrong... Turned out, I had an ovarian cyst that RUPTURED and was spilling toxins all over my abdominal cavity, irritating and inflaming every organ it touched. Yeah, nothing was wrong with me, except that silly little cyst that was growing and exploding... Grrrrrr...I was mad because he made me feel like an idiot hypochondriac when I knew something was wrong.

OK, now my rant is over

Oh I feel your pain!! I know exactly what you mean. I have been doctoring the same ailment for months now. I have been in the ER and in the DR office countless times. Like you I am not a "complainer". it takes a lot for me to go to the DR. I hate being made to feel I am a nuisance, not to mention the cost. Now I have thousands of dollars of tests to pay for and they want to do more. The next test they scheduled is for me to urinate in a special toilet

. That is a 4 thousand dollar test! It took a month and a half for them to get back to me with results on the other tests! So I am going to cancel the rest and wait until the debilitating pain comes back and have my DH carry me to the ER in the next town over! This will give me a chance to hopefully pay off these tests first! Its crazy!

I hope you are feeling better soon and can get some help some where. My situation has been on going for years. Every 4 or 5 years I get a sort of attack, pain in my side with other symptoms. I spend thousands of dollars on tests until the symptoms subside for a while, then start over! It is so frustrating!

funny you posted this, I just posted a rant about my childs doctor blowing us off last night! He has reccurring fever and stomache ache and the poor kids has missed half of the last marking period of school because he's got a fever every other week basically and they just keep telling me it's a virus and send me home after I drive an hour each way and pay a $20 copay for NOTHING. HE is missing school today and if this fever runs the way his do...he'll miss the next few days...which means he misses the last three days of school...pooooooor kid! He's so bummed because he's missed EVERYTHING this year including thanksgiving, christmas, and st pattys day parties as well as field day and the kindergarten class picnic today :-( thankfully he's bright so he will pass, but it still sucks that he's sick all the time and missing out and each different dr he sees everytime just brushes it off. I can't WAIT until the end of the month with his regular "well visit" dr because he's the only one that listens! I wish he did sick appts! And the kicker is if it's a virus none of the other 4 ppl in my house ever get sick... ?! Sorry thanks for letting me rant as well :-)

I am so sorry. Time to find a new doctor...and maybe one not in your town if the two you have seen were this way.

It is a shame but so many of them become doctors because they say to themselves when deciding their major in college... "Hmmmm what can I do that is a solid field that I can make good money?" So they go Med.
