Why dont Doctors listen??? *RaNtInG my heart out*

Believe me I feel your pain. Just tell them it's a comp case and it gets worse. Your faking until the xrays show different or then again they just don't want to take the risk and make a decision. I have been seeing 3 orthos. One was going to do surgery but I waited and things got better and then he does another test and says I don't need surgery. I was thinking that's funny cause you were all set to do surgery the first time. He did the second test cause things got worse. Now he says it's "chronic tendinitis".
If they can't find the cause then they say "oh nothings wrong".
Or it's not that bad. Or lets try this.
Doctors are like everyone else they're human. Some only went into medicine for the money. They cheated on their exams just like everyone else. Some are lazy and really don't want to work at finding what's wrong. It's easier to take your money and say "live with it".
Or they want to do tests only to tell you there is no cure. After you've put yourself through hell, having tests, going to appointments, taking time off work.
The stress has killed me.
And don't even get me started on the Fed. Gov. my employer.

I have all the symptoms of ovarian cysts, that is what I asked to be checked for last summer. I have been getting worse by the week since then and they ignore me. I am pretty sure I have a twisted one... DH wants to know what he can do for me and it sucks to say "nothing!" all the time. The pain got so bad Saturday and Sunday, thats why I went in yesterday, and between last night and this morning its spreading and making me walk like an old lady... I might have to go to Fargo anyway to pick up my brother at the hospital so if thats the case I will go to the ER at that time...

Oh I know, its amazing how I was treated when I was on Medical Assistance and how different I am treated now that I have my own insurance.

Its just stupid, and I feel stupid when they treat me that way, then I start to second guess myself, but i KNOW it hurts!

He says "youre just ovulating, its fine" uh sorry but I have been "ovulating" for 12 years now and this is not THAT!!!!

I have to say im glad i not the only one whos been through the bullcrap. For three years i could not eat without getting the runs a half hr later. I drop 30 pounds in two months and could not gain it back. I was down to 105lbs and i'm 5'3. I went through test after test to be told its all in my head. I got so tried of be asked if i had a eating disorder. No food and my tummy hate me. I finally stop doing it after three years and gain 40lbs over 6 months. Now i'm finally back to normal weight 5 years later. I developed motion sickness form it. Expect my blood sugar but thats a different story.

My advice get a different doctor. Do not take no for a answer its your body you know something is wrong. I had to tell them i wanted tests. Blood work was not enough. My gyno took one look at me and ordered blood work. She's the best.

get tested for lyme disease everyone-the symtoms are so general and only 30% get the bullseye rash.I was in an auto accident and the ortho pretty much said he thot I was faking for a larger settlement. So I switched doctors (going to a different doctor in the same office is a WASTE of time_) He told me only thing left was surgery. I said no its not that bad. couple years later having pain and thot my shoulder/collarbone was broke-turns out it was lyme and for the first time since he accident no pain. I even went to the batting cages. I have an HMO they will test for everything as long as its covered.

I had an acquaintance who felt something was wrong in her abdomen. The doctor kept telling her the problem was all in her head. She finally went to another doctor. This time the doctor listened and found that the problem WAS in her abdomen NOT in her head. She was diagnosed with stage III ovarian cancer. They operated on her, took out everything they thought she could live without and started her on radiation and chemo. That was over 30 years ago and she is still healthy. If she hadn't listened to her body and found another doctor she would have been dead in a matter of a few more months.

Okay here is one from the dark side. Just kidding... I'm actually a nurse and I truthfully do feel real sorry for all the trouble you are having.
My advice Get another doctor. Yes, doctors are busy and nurses can be unfeeling in those offices. I have a great doc, listens to his patients and actually will make time for you. Yes he knows me at the hospital but he really is like this with all his patients. Take my word, there are doctors that don't just want to make a buck and care about helping people. First of all talk with some people you know about who their doctor is, why they like him. Do you have any friends or neighbors in health care, I feel as nurses we now the nitty gritty on who the best docs are. If you have to go to fargo. Trust your instincts, if you don't think a doctor is helping you go see some one else. For years woman have been ignored, if we say we hurt somewhere they think it's all in their head, menopause or depression. Keep talking til someone listens to you.

I don't want to sound like I am evaluating all male doctors with a 1950's yardstick, but is your doctor a man? If so, trying to explain any womanly type pain to him is a losing battle, and that is even if you have a caring doctor. They just don't get it. To them, nothing women can possibly go through can compare in pain to the time they got hit in the crotch with the baseball bat. Compounding that is if you actually get a male doctor who actually is a piggish idiot, and then you are really in trouble.
Before everyone jumps all over me - yes, I have a male doctor and we get on just fine. However, I don't have any "womanly" issues, so we've never had to tackle that. My sisters, however, have had a variety of issues, and they have heard all the worn-out comments - "It's all in your head", "Come on, now, it isn't that bad" (that comment came from an old Texas doctor as my 100 lb. sister delivered her 11+ lb. baby), and "All women go through that".
Shop around for a new doc!

I'll say right off I don't care if its correct. I won't go to a male doctor for any kind of female issue. EVER. Drive the hour to find a nice female doctor. I drive a bit over an hour for a practice that has 8 women doctors on staff. No males.

I'm not bashing men. They can be great doctors but not for those kinds of issues. If you haven't been through it you just can't know what we are talking about. Even my husband understands that one. He says he doesn't understand and thanks God every day that he doesn't have the experience to understand.

So sorry your doctor is like that. Unfortunatly, this has become common place it the medical field! Its just so wrong. I had my ob tell me 13 years ago, when I was complaning about how bad things were THEN, and he agreed, but only to tell me that is was only going to get worse. Have you ever seen the movie "the Doctor", it stars William Hurt. Its an awesome movie, one of my favorites. I think every doctor should be required to view this movie. Here's one for you
