Why don't my coworkers understand?

I used to get the same when we fostered old, terminally ill and abused cats - my previous workmates just didn't get it. Why would I want to take cats on that wouldn't live much longer.....why take on cats that were vicious (scared because of cruelty from previous owners more like!) etc etc. To them a cat was just something that was cute as a kitten but once it grew out of the fluffy stage the only attention they gave it was to put food down once/twice a day and let it in or out. They never understood the bond I would have with my felines just by taking the time to give them attention and gain their trust and play with them. No doubt it'll be the same when I get my chickens  That's why I love forums like this as the other members understand what you're saying :)

I love talking chicken craziness to people whether they understand it or not. Sometimes you even uncover another chicken person in hiding! My dental hygienist is a chicken person, although I didn't know until I was going on about my babies and showed her my phone pictures. Now all we talk about is our flocks when I get my teeth cleaned. ;)

...That it is CUTE when a chicken steps on your foot. The other day I was out tending to the girls and felt something on my foot. I looked down and Wiggles, our beautiful mix breed, was just standing on my foot. I don't know why, but I thought it was extremely cute. No one I work with seemed to appreciate my story, so I thought that I'd share it here, where someone might under stand the cuteness of chicken toes on your feet. :p
:love:love:lovex

Hahaha funny how other chicken lovers just pop up isn't it! I was at my opticians n Friday having an eye check and getting some new specs and the young lady sorting the specs out for me had parents who kept chickens :) I said I was getting some in the coming months and we had a lovely chat about chooks :D Then later on that same day I was browsing in the local Oxfam charity store and turns out one of the volunteers there has an allotment and chickens so we had a nice talk about growing flowers and vegetables and chickens. Neil rang my mobile whilst I was chatting away and I cut him off.....and afterwards sent a text saying ''Sorry I had to ignore you....was chatting to guy in Oxfam about chickens!'' :gig

Oh I know! And they're always so happy to have found another chicken person to talk to. It really is a very easy way to pretty much automatically make a friend since they've just been bursting to talk chickens. :)

That's your chicken telling you it's dominant. Our silkies have been doing this and you just got to give them a full-handed slap to show them whose boss

You're a silkie slapper? That's just rude and one day they'll have their revenge! Maybe not today, but soon...watch your back.
