Why Ducks?

I know, I love duck meat but he's so very cute and sweet. Yes also Huge and would be delicious. But I gave him a name. I resisted for 7weeks. Once they have a name they can't be eaten. He is going to a good home.

And I have been so blessed to find good homes for my drakes. I know it can't continue. Fire up the smoker

Why ducks??

I ask myself this everyday...

And then they give me that cute face, and quack...they'll eat from my hand...lay beautiful eggs...beautiful to look at. Mine aren't for meat or monetary purposes, just seemed natural to add the waterfowl to my flock. Love my ducks because they love me...I think

Last year, I was kinda in a funk since my dog has passed and my wife and daughter sabotaged me into pulling out of it by taking me to tractor supply company around this time last year and pointing out i could get a baby duck for only $5. They knew how much I love ducks and love going to the park with my daughter to feed the ducks.

I was looking at the ducklings, not really thinking about getting one, when i turn around and they had already gotten a cart full of the supplies we would need. so i picked 2 out. wound up being a Runner duck and a Black duck. they were hilarious and made me laugh every day. such personalities.

we wound up letting them go in a pond where a friend of the family lives. the place we were at we had annoying neighbors who complained to the city even though its legal to have ducks.

so when we moved to a place with a pond we wanted to get a couple ducks. we thought about trying to get our two from last year but they are happy in their pond and have taken over the flock of ducks living there. So I got 2 more and am putting up their coop this weekend. for now they are in a large bin next to me. they are funny and crack me up

Ducks are awesome aside from the random pooping whenever they please heh.
