why give your chickens mealworms

i have been giving my chickens mealworms for the past 2 months. Why would you need to give them mealworms,for protean or just as treats?

Just for treats. Too many and they can get fatty liver disease. I have seen mealworms suggested for feeding a sick chicken that may need the extra protein.

You don't need to give chickens mealworms, though they sure do love them! They can sometimes be good for enticing sick birds to eat, for training, and as supplemental protein during molting. Just keep in mind that they are a treat; not a diet, for your hens.
