Why I am Vegan

As a chicken raising vegan, do you sell your eggs rather than eat them?

Just wondering how that all works....

Could you define vegan as opposed to vegetarian? I seriously don't know the difference; not that it matters (to me), because it would take a lot to make me give up meat. I just think that in the interest of this conversation, we should all be aware of what it means.
Carry on...

Vegan: If it comes from a critter with a nervous system, you don't eat it. No dairy, eggs, etc.

I am not Veg or Vegan but think I could be on the health issues alone. But this year I started raising my own eggs and buying my pork and beef from a local farmer. Organic, humanely raised, humanely dispatched. I feel much better.

I THINK... vegetarians will eat animal products such as eggs and butter, where a vegan eats only plant matter, which of course includes beans, etc. They get plenty of protein, contrary to what many say. I have a friend that is vegetarian and will not eat anything with a face, such as chicken, beef, pork, etc., but she eats eggs, milk, cheese, butter. I THINK that is the difference, but because I am neither, don't listen to me.

I wholeheartedly support the why's. Having autoimmune issues in our family we just chose to go "organic" but we only eat the meat that we produce knowing what is going into them. The funny part is we raise our pork as vegatarians, with no meat based proteins, my friend.s love it, it is lean, light and yummy. But NO GMO's in our family. Uckkk

On the GMO's - it not just yucky but downright scary if you ask me.

This is an example that concerns me. The FDA has given clearance to a company to release genetically modified salmon into the Atlantic. The GM fish are much larger than natural fish, meaning the larger fish will naturally destroy the natural fish. So I won't be eating Atlantic salmon anymore.....

I can do ya one better... I am a vegetarian !! Been meat free for over 5 yrs ...I do however eat some eggs.Do not drink milk ( just don't like it ) use cream in my coffee and could not live with out cheese... So basically if it has or had a face I don't eat the flesh on its bones... I'm not a crazy animal rights girl...just a clean eater and man do I feel better..my family does however like them some chicken and venison now and again....lol

I know, I have an issue with the whole GMO anything!!! But last time we had a big discussion on this, our thread got locked, so I will stick with Yuckkky

and funny, besides!
I believe in everyones right to their beliefs & say more power to 'em. More meat for me...as far as the way commercial meat is raised & the chemical additives, that is part of the reason I want to raise my own. I want to spend my 'golden' years in better health, with less meds if possible. I would much rather know what my food is being fed & know how healthy it is!
btw...what the heck is GMO?
