We got out first chicks 4 months ago, and ever since I stroked their fluffiness, I fell in love with them. We got 2 Barred Rocks, 2 Buff Orpingtons, and 2 Ameraucaunas, or so we thought...I asked about one of my Easter Egger's gender, and people confirmed she was a girl (yay) but also an Easter Egger. At first, I was disappointed because of how much I wanted the blue eggs of an ameraucauna. But then when I researched Easter Eggers, I found out they could lay green, pink, AND blue eggs! I was so happy. I also found out they are better layers, which is what we are using them for.

So what I'm saying, is that you shouldn't be disappointed if you get an Easter Egger! They are amazing and in some ways better than ameraucaunas. I would also like to say (to anybody who hasn't already heard this), that I got mine from a feed mill, and most times they will be Easter Eggers instead. So don't give away your precious Easter Eggers just because they aren't as fancy, or "good enough", I love mine and I know you'll love yours too.

she's beautiful - we have two from Agway - one lays green and has dark green legs and the other has light lemon green legs and lays blue - the green egged one, Valerie, has a muff and beard, Sammy does not, but she is always picked on by my other larger pullets

I got EE;s BECAUSE of the variety of egg colors! The first batch turned out to be only part EE (they were bought at a feed store), only three of them were, and of those three they layed a green, pink, and VERY pale brown (looks yellow, actually) egg. The second batch I got from a hatchery, and one layed a very light blue egg, the other three light blue, all the same shade. I actually liked the variety better!

Add to them my Marans (dark brown egg), an Australorp (tan) and my old Production Red (two toned medium brown), I get a real Easter basket during peak laying season.

I :love my Easter Eggers!

I'm glad to hear so many people agree with me! Most people are sad when they don't get their precious ameraucaunas, but I think Easter Eggers are quite BETTER if you were looking for any weird color, not just blue.

I am surprised that our Samantha - the girl on the right in the front is laying a blue egg every day - Valerie to her left is laying a green egg every other day, even in the cold and darker days this week
