If you've ever noticed, if you've only eaten a salad for lunch, & felt yourselves very hungry the next hour, that also tells you that our digestive systems is so ready to expunge what we've eaten, that very little comes of it, via caloric intake, but we do get vitamins & minerals that are essential to any omnivorious diet. Contrast that with a nice, fat laden McDonalds or T-Bone steak meal, & you'll feel satiated all night long, so much so, that your body practically shuts down with sleep, so as to digest enough of the caloric intake from that meal, that it takes quite a bit of energy to digest it all.
Omnivorous diets = balance, from proteins, we get amino acids that we can repair our bodies with, from grains, & complexcarbohydrates we get energy to fuel the repair process, & from fruits & veggetables, we get vitamins & minerals that we'd lack in a pure carb/protein/fat diet.
Cravings, pretty much, for me, sums up the reason I eat an omnivorous diet, I love the smell of popcorn popping, I love the smell of bacon frying, I love the smell of fresh baked bread, sauteed mushrooms, garlic & onions, I love the smell of a great tasting barbequed T-Bone steak, & however, I don't smell much in the way of plants, like fruits & veggetables, but I do love the plump looking ripe blueberries on a bush! I love the look of a round plump red sweet succulant apple! So, combined together with our sense of smell, & our sense of sight, you can easily see that I'm an Omnivore!
With that, taking into today's "factory" foods, one can easily find farmers that are organically growing both plants & animals, & one can even hunt to get their required need for protein in a diet, sans all the growth hormones, RGBST, antibiotics, etc. etc.
