Ok, I'm made to be one, our front teeth are made for ripping & tearing of flesh, (incisors & canines, canines are missing in rodents & large herbavoires) & our molars (bicuspids & molars) are made for grinding, likewise, we don't have the four chambered stomachs of rumanants, like the bovine class of animals, but we've got one that processes gains, proteins & complex carbohydrates, plant matter, called roughage, comes out lookin' the same as it went in, & we don't have the bacteria within our digestive system to eat the fiber of many plant material.

If you've ever noticed, if you've only eaten a salad for lunch, & felt yourselves very hungry the next hour, that also tells you that our digestive systems is so ready to expunge what we've eaten, that very little comes of it, via caloric intake, but we do get vitamins & minerals that are essential to any omnivorious diet. Contrast that with a nice, fat laden McDonalds or T-Bone steak meal, & you'll feel satiated all night long, so much so, that your body practically shuts down with sleep, so as to digest enough of the caloric intake from that meal, that it takes quite a bit of energy to digest it all.

Omnivorous diets = balance, from proteins, we get amino acids that we can repair our bodies with, from grains, & complexcarbohydrates we get energy to fuel the repair process, & from fruits & veggetables, we get vitamins & minerals that we'd lack in a pure carb/protein/fat diet.

Cravings, pretty much, for me, sums up the reason I eat an omnivorous diet, I love the smell of popcorn popping, I love the smell of bacon frying, I love the smell of fresh baked bread, sauteed mushrooms, garlic & onions, I love the smell of a great tasting barbequed T-Bone steak, & however, I don't smell much in the way of plants, like fruits & veggetables, but I do love the plump looking ripe blueberries on a bush! I love the look of a round plump red sweet succulant apple! So, combined together with our sense of smell, & our sense of sight, you can easily see that I'm an Omnivore!

With that, taking into today's "factory" foods, one can easily find farmers that are organically growing both plants & animals, & one can even hunt to get their required need for protein in a diet, sans all the growth hormones, RGBST, antibiotics, etc. etc.

Omnivore here! Give me a big juicy steak with a baked potato, a crisp salad, and some chocolate cheesecake covered in strawberries for dessert...

I am an omnivore because dietary "specialists" die when their food source disappears unless they are able to adapt.

I have to eat meat. My diet is very close to Paleo/SCD. My body has a very very hard time with starches. Since changing from the Stardard American diet I have been much healthier.

I follow the Weston A Price diet also called the "Maker's diet" I and my family are much healthier than when we were vegan.

I agree with the person who started the "Why I am a Vegan" thread in that it is awful how they treat animals in the meat industry, and that is why we should try to get our meat and dairy products from the backyard or ethical humane farms, all of my meat and dairy products come from small farms or my backyard and I am confident that the animals are treated fairly, but I do eat plenty of meat.

Yes, there are animals that are treated horribly, but that's not always the case, not even most of the time. My family runs a beef cattle operation. Our cows roam over 1600 acres, eat grass, hay, and whatever else they find, raise their calves, and the calves are sold to the slaughterhouse. I don't see anything bad about that. In fact, they have great lives while they're around. We're not certified organic or anything else, but our cows never see antibiotics b/c we don't need them...we have a healthy, closed herd. If people would stop believing every freaking rumor that they hear and look at FACTS they'd stop being so righteous. I bet most people that complain about the way things are done have never actually seen the way things are done. I've been to the slaughterhouses, feedyards, etc, and the ones I've been to have been well kept and the animals treated humanely.
