Americauna dropped dead in the night almost 2 weeks ago now with no explainations.. Then yesterday my Orp wasn't herself. just wanted to lay down in the coop, didnt want water or food when she first was let out, heck didnt want to go out. Took her to the vet ( I dont want to know what this is going to cost) and her body temp was low and they started tube feeding her. gave her antibiotics and treated with Ivermectin even though the fecal was normal. They said she was listless and depressed and were not sure she would make it through the night. Today they are still tube feeding her but she is taking some food in her own. Still rather weak but getting vitamins and herb and prognosis is better... Why are these animals so much harder to diagnose? bad enough there are so few bird docs around. Hopefully she will be home tomorrow, although they advise keeping her heated at night which means in the house with a heat lamp. Joy!
