He's gorgeous! And huge!

I had the same problem.

I never ruminate though.. what's done is done in my book. Learn and move on!

I changed my work schedule.. I was going to bed at 9-10:30 and up at 4:30 am, but I would lay there for 2 hours!! Now I get to bed at 11:12:30 up at 6:30. It has made all the difference. It could be because it's getting light out as I wake up. But I'm falling asleep right away. And not falling asleep at work, and being more productive when I'm there.

I have not changed anything else, drink caffinated stuff, sometimes before bed even, I try to lounge for 1hr or so before bedtime, reading or watching tv.

Before I fall asleep, I think about things/people I like that make me feel relaxed and keep it positive.

Just changing my schedule made a huge difference.

Could be a lot of things, and also depends on if it is chronic, etc. I had struggled with insomnia my entire life (related to an anxiety disorder), but did not address it until I was an adult. This in part was due to me being told that I did not have insomnia because people suffering from it never sleep in (untrue), that I was just lazy, and that I would be fine if I just went to bed earlier (actually often makes things worse and did for me). It took a lot of work with a sleep specialist, but now I rarely have issues with insomnia. Definitely worth it if you can find someone effective and if it is a major issue for you. The health issues alone related to not getting proper sleep are manifold. For me, I was averaging three to four hours of sleep when I finally was forced to try the specialist after all other suggestions failed. It was very seriously impacting my work performance. For some, things like soothing tea is enough. For some, medical issues like sleep apnea are at work. For me, I had to treat both the symptomatic insomnia and the anxiety disorder to start seeing any change.

I know this is probably not what you want to hear but you should also try a diet change as well. So many foods can interfere with our health. I used to be exhausted until I gave up wheat and grains, I also cut out coffee and I have far more energy than I did getting caffeinated up, might be something to look into ~FD

A melatonin supplement helped my father in law tremendously, I would also try them.
