Why is my chicken laying wrinkled eggs?!

Oyster shell is simply not available at the feed stores in Panama. Once or twice a year, they will get a shipment in of ground egg shell. I buy about 10 pounds of that when they have it, (availability is hit or miss), and I grind their egg shells finely, and feed them back to the girls in a separate dish regularly. If your feed store doesn't offer oyster shell or if it's cost prohibitive in your area, then ask if they offer ground egg shell.

I've had one of mine lay the rubbery egg, they always have oyster shell on hand, it only happened the one time.. if it's just the one time, I'd consider it a glitch, if it's not I'd consider her sick and look at taking her to a vet.

OH my gosh thanks for all the replies! I give them Layena Layer pellets. It has Omega 3, crushed oyster shell, extra calcium, etc. It's not always that she lays an egg like that, just every couple of days/weeks. I got them back in April 7 at 1 week old so they were born April First (not a joke, pun definitely intended, always intend your puns.) and the first egg was August the 2. So they are over a year old, so they are about a good 60 weeks old! So perhaps it is just happening because of their age? It doesn't happen often though, just every now and then. I'll wait about a week and see what happens then set a bowl out there for them and add some crushed oyster shell in it so they eat that if they want it :D

Has she done this consistently since she started laying? my older girls have laid just one, every now and then I'd get faerie eggs or fart eggs as I like to call them, little tiny things not much bigger than a nickle sometimes, I've got new girls and they are doing the same, laying small eggs. it's all part of the reproduction system. When I got my rubber egg, my girls were 2.5 yrs old.

How long has she been laying eggs?
It looks like a slab sided egg to me.
An egg like that is usually from being kept in the shell gland too long, it's more commonly seen in young layers.
Not every odd egg is due to lack of calcium, sometimes there's just a "glitch". I would see if it continues before making any drastic changes to diet.

It is always a good idea to make oyster shell available free choice for laying pullets/hens.
I agree, I get one of these occasionally, they have oyster shell and egg shells to eat and sometimes I get eggs with extra calcium deposits on them. Sometimes they just lay a weird egg
