Help!! I’m a.m. new to chickens and need to know why my rooster is being beaten up by my own hens! He is a silkie rooster and is 9 months old, the silkie hen and him had a fight and my buff cochin(not bantam) and him also fought so did my Sussex(not bantam). Plz tell me soon what I should do because i don’t want anyone to die

I borrowed a rooster for breeding once*, he had a naked bottom, my hens went up and pecked it, the rooster said "OW!" just like a person would. When he was done doing his duty, I brought him back to my friend who loaned him out, I told him the story of what happened to the rooster, then watched as his hens pecked the rooster's bottom. *(Don't worry about my borrowing the rooster, I had got my hens from the people with the rooster.)

Did you introduce them in a look no touch pen or just toss him in?....

Your silkie male is still a juvenile, a cockerel (a male under a year of age). How old are the females? Are they mature hens or pullets (females under a year old)? If they are mature hens their reaction is expected, they're telling this teenage boy to take a hike.

Good news! The mature hens(for some reason) aren’t attacking him but my 8 month old silkie hen is

I agree. They are just telling him that they are tired of his crap and not going to take it any more.

I have a mixed flock of young cockerels and hens. The older cockerels usually whip the younger boys into shape but the older hens are ruthless with them. I've seen a young cockerel dance for an older pullet and the pullet just jump on him like ugly on an ape, especially if he tries to grab her by the neck feathers without doing anything to impress her....which most young cockerels will try at first. They are all hormones and no finess.

I've never seen a pullet or hen really hurt one of the young males. They just peck on them and chase them off. I'd try putting him in a pen for a few days where they can see him and not access one another then try again. I've actually had the cockerel in a pen by himself and tried putting a pullet in with him instead of vice versa. Sometimes that works sometimes it doesn't.

But the cockerel being thrust in with the hens is probably the problem. New face in the crowd and all that. Plus he's trying to put moves on them. Given time things will more than likely work out for them.

Is your rooster a bantam? This is the biggest question. The rooster is younger it sounds like. Try this take him out for a week in a separate coop/pen then after a week put him back in at night when they are sleeping and things should get better
