My primary breed is RIRs and they are 6 months and 4 and a half months. My oldest are all hens and the roosters are in the 4 and half month old age group, although they are pretty big. I keep forgetting that they are so young.
I only witnessed mating 2 days ago and only with the mature hens that have the bright red combs and wattles. They seem to ignore the immature pullets that have pink combs. Its like they seem to know which ones are ready.
I was beginning to wonder when I would see action in my yard though, although I knew it was coming.
