Legit 5 minutes ago I went out to hunt for duck eggs. I do it every day - they are good at hiding them as they are half feral. I went down to the pond because they like laying on the bank - but then I saw two eggs, centimetres (just over an inch for Americans) apart. They may have rolled down the bank but I doubt it becuase they lay on the top of the bank and something would have to push it to make it roll. Advice would be much appreciated thnx.

That is actually pretty common. If they were by the bank she could have thought, “my head is on the bank, therefore my egg will be too”. They also sometimes lay wherever they are when that egg decides to appear. I love my ducks but no one ever said they were smart and we have bred many good mothering instincts out of them. If she is young it may improve or not.

Sometimes I find an egg in one of the pools I think that when they are soaking in the water, they relax and it’s easier to lay their egg. One thing I have learned is that if I don’t let them out as early in the morning, they lay most of their eggs inside their house before I let them out, but if I let them out too early, all the eggs will be everywhere.

OK. That makees sense, my ducks are half feral and sleep on the pond.

Omy word that is so annoying! I don’t have a pond, just a kiddie pool, but I’ve never had that issue. My 4 girlies all lay in the same spot in the coop.
They were laying in a good palce and I always left one egg there so they kept laying there but one day I forgot to leave on there so they stopped laying there. They now just lay around th paddock
