My Buff Orp Sunny went broody a few weeks after the onset of lay, about the same age as yours. She was a mess and despite all my breaking-up strategies, sat tight on air. I took her off that nest at least once a day to eat and drink, but at the end of the 21 days, she began to twitch her head and it turned upward like limberneck. We did some emergency measures like Vitamin E squeezed into her mouth along with vitamin water through a syringe. Finally, about Day 23, she snapped out of it and didnt go broody again till April of this year, when she hatched out two of my Barred Rock eggs for me. My other Buff Orp hasn't even hinted at going broody-both are going on two years old now.
Yes, remove the golf balls and keep removing her from the nest. Hopefully, she'll snap out of it sooner than my Sunny did.
