Solved Why is that failure-to-launch elf still sitting up there?

The snowflakes were the only thing that worked. The first Christmas it was up, Santa soared across the top of the page on Christmas morning. It was kinda cute. Then last year, he never got out of his slot. I was disappointed to see it was still broken this year again. I fix broken stuff or get rid of them when I can't fix them.
