Hello I just got back from a 5 day vacation and let my chickens out for about two hours. When I lifted up one of my chickens I felt a hole, I looked under her and found a hole near her thigh. The hole is pretty clean except for the poop around it. Can somebody please tell me what is happening and what I should do? She is acting normal. She did injure her leg a while ago and it did not fully heal so she does limp. There is no blood in her coop or run too. My guesses are that her leg was dislocated and punctured her skin if that’s even possible, or an insect burrowed into her skin, grew up and left leaving a hole, I have found multiple bugs burrows in our soil about the same size as the hole. Right now I have her in a separate cage for safety reasons. Please share your guesses and cures.I will attach an image, viewer discretion is advised.

do you have any medical supply like bacitracin or betadine wash with that then some neosporin without pain killer

Bacitracin is similar to Neosporin. Betadine is available at just about every store that has a pharmacy but is on the shelf near bandages.

Wal-Mart carries their store brand of both. Amazon should also have both available.

Not a pro, but it looks like either she may have had a deep wound abscess that has opened and drained, or as suggested earlier, a warble or bot fly that has burrowed into the skin. I would flush it out with betadine or chlorhexidene with water twice a day. Those are found for around $6 at WalMart as Equate First Aid antiseptic and Hibiclens. Then pack it with plain Neosporin or Triple Antibiotic Ointment.
