There's every other color but PINK!

My neighbor has a pink dove, so why can't we come up with a pink chicken?

I would be on cloud nine if that happened.

Well, LOL, white birds can be dyed pink. And yes, I bet there is a way to breed a pinkish tinted chicken though I think doves have color genes that are different from chickens. Would I want to? No, I'm not a big fan of pink. Blue is more my thing.

Awhile back there was a post on breeding pink chickens if you do a search you could probably find it.

I think you could use lavender to produce a pink bird. I had a large fowl lavender bird segregate in my large fowl. A dog ran into my yard and carried off the bird. I was going to do some experimentation with the bird but that ended all of my thinking on the subject.

I have thought about making a rhode island lavender and see if I could get a pink color??????. Lavender will dilute red pigment. I may also have to include dominant white. I do not have the room to do another project.

Purple, in my opinion, is not attainable.

I've recently started towards pink Orps. From my lavender Orps & red almost Orps. Ruff from the Coop said she thought dominant white enhanced the pink effect. I've got that from cornish cross crosses.

Apparently that has been done in the laboratory a number of years ago. Somewhere on The-Coop there is a thread about it. A glow-in-the-dark trans-species test tube cross if I recall correctly.
