Why my birds love me

A couple of nights ago, I woke to hear one of my birds screaming (yes, they can scream!) at about 4 am, which could only mean one thing: a predator. I grabbed a baseball bat and a head lamp and ran out. I don't know how he got in, but a small possum was in the coop. With the 8 girls arranged on their roosts like an audience, I bashed the possum's head in with the bat, illuminated by the lamp. The screaming stopped, and I swear I heard some chuckling from the gallery as I threw the nasty thing out by the tail. Since then, my birds have forsaken their rascally ways and are following me around as though I was the messiah.
