why no eggs?(update and contest)

Oh my goodness, I feel your pain!! I have 14 hens. 10 of them are 25 weeks old. The other 4 are bantams and one is 19 weeks, the other 3 are 23 weeks. I have had no eggs. None. Nada. I look everyday, several times a day.

We move our pen weekly so that they can be on fresh grass with fresh bugs. We cannot let them free range because of the hawks that live on our lake. We do let them out for a bit each evening while we stand guard. I am wondering if maybe moving the pen like we do has them upset? I have noticed that they are molting. Today we had a ton of feathers. Everyone looks great though.

They are eating layer crumbles. My husband will give them some scratch as a treat.

It's so frustrating. I just want to see one egg!

YES , moving them can or rather could be upsetting them .......... Don't take much . I even notice when we simply clean out the coop and apply fresh pine shavings , they quit laying for a day or 2 . Weird , BUT they DO NOT like change . We been having to move and adjust and readjust ours so much because of having 2 hurricanes , NOT a wonder mine seem to be delayed too . Molting ? YES , they completely stop laying during these cycle ...

Birds can be fickle. But if you move your pen weekly they can get used to this. Just give it some more time. Many of my birds waited until they were past the 25 week before they would start laying. I think they do this to annoy us. LOL

I also wanted to be the first to welcome you to BYC!

OK, so as hard as it is for me....I am going to try to be patient.

I have been threatening them with becoming dinner. Maybe I should stop that? lol

Thanks for the welcome!
