Why on Earth is it called "Andalusian Blue"?!

Pretty sure Okimoto needed a Poulry science degree to become a Dr

I thought he was a geneticist, specialising in poultry. Could be wrong. I'd have thought a doctorate in genetics would be more the thing.

Its becoming more and more apparent that we were....Ok, so his maybe an animal science instead of strictly poultry...but you get the point.

Chickens aren't the only place Andalusian is used to name a blue coloring. Pigeons as well, can be Andalusian colored. They are the exact same coloration as the chickens, with the dark lacing and all. We don't call them "Andalusian Blue" though. We just call them Andalusians.

Absolutely Dustin, that's what I said in my post. Blue first appeared in Games. It would be because they were the first breed (Andalusians) Standardized with the blue coloring. saladin

I'll add another twist to "Andalusian".

I don't think the name for the color came from the bird at all. I think the bird got the name from the Andalusian HORSE. The most common color for Andalusian horses is gray.....

hey while you poultry brainiaks go at it can you help a dummy know how to make a blue chicken is it black and splash? or? thanks in advance an unwise chicken guy?

But surely, when referring to horses, 'grey' doesn't necessarily mean grey in colour it means grey skin. An apparently white coloured horse can also be a 'grey'.
