Why on Earth is it called "Andalusian Blue"?!

Quote:
That is similar to what mine had, however you wouldn't even know the bird had any other markings unless you were actually handling the bird and had it in the right light. It frustrated me to no end because the barring was impeccable. Wondered what I was doing wrong with the Barred Plymouth Rocks!

I thought that "self" meant full or unicolor.

In some countries it means Andalusian blue which is even & without lacing, but in US I gather it means lavender.

I think "self" can mean true breeding or it can mean unicolour. That is one of the problems in using it. I've heard teh terms "self black" and "self chocolate," both in the context of uniform colour (as compared with white crested black or white crested chocolate). I've also heard "self black" to mean extended black, or E.

"Self" is confusing in the same manner as the question & answer:
"do we turn left?"
"right"

Does the answer mean "correct, we turn left" or does it mean "no, we should turn right." With context we can perhaps understand the most likely meaning in a particular use, but even the, sometimes not.
