I collect eggs every day. I've done it for 2 years. On occasion I drop and break one. No big deal. Yesterday I bring eggs in. Three are to be set aside for the bator. I dropped one. I feel sad. I must be a crazy chicken lady!

I feel exactly the same when I collect my quails eggs, so you are not alone, when you collect the eggs simply for eating and you happen to drop one, you think 'never mind just one less to eat' when you are selecting them for hatching and you drop one you think 'oh no! I have just lost a chick!' [IMG]

    I can sympathize.
I had 14 silkie eggs on the counter. I was sending out a batch of 9+, so I planned to send out a round dozen. I figured I'd keep the extra 2 eggs to set myself.
Needless to say, there was a 'splat' at my house, too.
I still had a dozen sitting in front of me & laying hens out in the coop, but I was momentarily devastated.

Pagan-I love that phrase-momentarily devastated, describes the moment perfect!
