Cocci is really the least of your troubles-it is not actually a "lifetime carrier" disease. Oocysts are in the soil and there are about 9 types of them. You can have a cocci outbreak just when you have a run of wet warm weather and young birds are on the ground. It's fairly common and treatable. They usually grow out of their susceptibility to that disease.
