Why r my chicks eating of of the ground of their indoor container?

Do you mean your chicks are eating feed spilled out on the floor rather than eating directly from the feeder?

Maybe they haven't really figured out how to deal with your type of feeder. Chickens naturally scratch in the dirt (floor, grass, whatever) to find things to eat. That is what the chicks are doing.

Agreed - the short answer is, "Because they are chickens".

Welcome to BYC!

Yes, what the others said! Chicks and chickens will eat where ever the food is! If it doesn't move, chickens will eat it. LOL

Enjoy your new babies and welcome to our flock!
