Why raise chooks for eggs when you can do ducks?

I love to eat and cook with duck eggs! I'm developing a lot of receipes using only duck eggs. Love my duck egg noodles!!!

I never ate duck eggs until the last year and cannot get enough of them.

That being said, a lot of folks have a "bias" against duck eggs and will not try them! Which is a shame to waste that experience, imho! have a blessed day. Nancy

Duck/goose eggs make the best cakes ever..however when I had ducks they lived pretty much in the pond and the eggs tasted very earthy...I couldn't eat them..I am going to start back raising ducks this spring, but I still want my almost 100 chickens...

why do you want your 100 chx and not 100 ducks or maybe 50 chx and 50 ducks?

It is something about that chickens that I just love..they have such neat personalities and I love the taste of them and their eggs and when I sell eggs, most customers will NOT buy duck eggs except to bake because they don't believe they are good for anything else......and there are more varieties of chickens to keep you occupied..

thank you very much for your reply!!

what is your favorite breed of chicken for egg production and ease of handling (i am thinking of 'calmness'/'friendliness')

I've had several breeds of ducks and hate the mess , the only breed i would ever consider getting again is muscovy . they are the best , intelligent, very friedly, and dont need a pool over winter like other ducks the other breeds i had pekin ,runners , etc , cant remeber the others, but they never became tame and just seemed dumb.

Salmon Faverolles are sooo gentle and are great egg producers, another one is the partridge cochin, mine have given me lots of eggs and they are so darn pretty and gentle is an understatement....Brahmas are also very very gentle, not the best egg producers but when you have lots of chickens some not so good layers are ok too.. lol
