Why so slow?

How come this new forum is so slow? I takes a while to load... and when you try to scroll down, it's sticky.

I'm using google chrome.

I'm having the same problem, I can't even scroll down the page smoothly. Heck I even get a timer just when trying to open the smilie or spell check window. It's awful. =(

I'm new here, I thought it was just me having to do most of my internet activities on a smartphone. The other forums I frequent, I have no issues at all.

I understand the need for the new system, as we had outgrown the old BYC... but I have the same problem and am no longer a daily reader/poster here and will not be renewing my GFM. It's a good thing that this new format allows for more ads to generate revenue because a LOT of people are not going to be renewing their paid memberships because the new system is so slow that it's pretty much unusable for most of us. I know a couple of people that won't even log on anymore (I still communicate with them on Facebook and other places) because it freezes up their computer.

I will admit that it's not as bad as it was the first few days after they did the upgrade, but I am sure Rob and his team are working hard to make adjustments in the settings here and there to help it run more efficiently. Still, it doesn't work well on most people's computers, and I hear it's really bad if you're on a mobile device. I can only be on here if I have absolutely no other windows open on my computer.

My GFM doesn't expire until July, but if the system isn't a whole lot better by then, I cannot see myself paying to use a website that my computer cannot easily access. But that's just me.

I wonder if it is all the ads that do that..... make it freeze up. That happened to me at work last night when I tried to get on. Scared me to death..... YIKES! I am sure I will be in trouble for that stunt.

I post on some other forums, one in particular was really slow, until I came here. Now my old "slow" forum feels like light speed.

For my system, this new website is faster than the old one was....by quite a bit. I run Firefox on PCLinuxOS. Don't know what to tell you.....maybe need to reconfigure your OS somehow? Haven't used Windows for 6 or 7 years, so no longer know how to kick it in the butt. Good luck.

I think if the answer is to reboot or reload the page than that is the wrong answer. All other websites seem to load fine for me but the "new improved" byc. Something is wrong with the new system and I am hoping it gets fixed soon....

If it is any consolation.... it was very slow for me in the beginning, too. However, now it is pretty smooth and quick. I hope you pick up speed soon, too. Good luck.
