@featherland is there anything else i can feed the chickens to make the shell harder and the shell was flimsy when i picked it up

What are you feeding them now? Layer contains oyster shell. You can purchase separate oyster shell at any feed store. Your younger ones are probably not ready for layer yet. If you feed them layer too soon it can cause kidney damage. Hang a little bucket so they can get the oyster shell free choice. The younger ones probably won't touch it. Sometimes you will get a chicken the occasionally lays soft shelled eggs. If you do just try to remove it as soon as possible so they don't develop a taste for eggs.

my chickens now started laying idk if its the buff orphingtons or rhode island reds they laid two eggs two days after the cracked egg and 1 today
