I've never tried it but I'm excited to see what it is like. I told my wife to boil them & make some noodles for a church get together this spring.

oh...chicken feet make a great stock tho!! And the stock is so rich, flavourful, and gelatiny.... its really good

Yup, it's well worth it to throw them into the stock pot.

With or without the skin on? I tried to "take the socks off" and finally gave up, but the dirt wasn't coming off the skin very well either. Was I doing something wrong?

Ya, one reason is also shown in the poll... the fact that so many raise for pets makes eating them hard.

There are probably many like me that wouldn't mind if chickens we raise were used for meat, but that's not necessarily the "reason" why we got them.

you just scald them like you do the feathers.

I tried that, although it was later in the evening, after we were all done processing. I think I was starting to cook some, so I tried new ones and was more careful with them, but didn't have any better luck.

I dont understand why you would raise meaties EVER. Notorious for broken legs, heart problem, and being lazy boring stupid pigs. 'Normal' Chickens you dont have to regulate the feed, broilers are to dumb to realise their fat and dying.

Broken legs? Out of about 10,000 broilers that I have raised in the past 10 years... not once have I ever had one with a broken leg from growing too fast. I have came to find out that it's a myth, at least with my experiences.

As far as why would anyone want to raise them.... That's an easy one... I'm sure others can answer that question...

You kind of walked into this one... it is funny because you refer to the broilers as dumb.... I think you said "to dumb to realise their fat and dying".... seriously? If your going to call something dumb... try to look smart while doing it... you probably should have said... too dumb to realize they're fat and dying

You know what upsets me the most.... even though you may not like something... show a little respect. You don't see me saying negative things about dual purpose breeds.... because I could be like... who would ever want to raise those scrawny, no good, sorry excuse for a chicken... However I understand both breeds pros and cons and respect them both. For instance no broiler would ever taste as good as a dual purpose chicken when it comes to a good chicken noodle soup. That's just one of many ways to cook a dual purpose. Both breeds have their moments when they shine.

Here are some pics of the "lazy boring stupid pigs"... You know, some of you guys are right... they look repulsive, fat, ugly, nasty, too fat to walk, sloppy, stinky.... oh ya... stupid... I almost forgot stupid (like I can't remember the last time I seen a smart one). But you know what.... they sure do taste really freakin good!!

I thought this was a poll but it feels very hostile..... YUK!

My response to the POLL is

I have chickens because they remind me of my youth in Denmark hanging out with my grandfather and tending to the chickens and the garden.

I have chickens because I like fresh eggs (if I ever get any)

I have chickens because I enjoy passing on the "farmer" thing to my grandchildren and letting them see eggs hatch.

I have chickens because I live in the country and I can.

I love chickens and I will gather eggs and I will send mean roos to Freezer camp and I will make chicken and dumplings.
