why would you get chickens?

I was wondering why you got your chickens. I got my chickens for the enjoyment and their eggs.

I got mine for several reasons. 1. I have a 5 yeald son and a 6 year old daughter. When I was a kid about there age, we had chickens and I loved it. I wanted them to have the same experience. We started with fertile eggs and hatched them ourselves so they could experience it from the start. 2. I love eggs! 3. They are just fun to watch sometimes and I find that having them, taking care of them and watching them free range is really relaxing. There are probably more reasons but that should cover most of them.

I first got them for the eggs and meet, then it became a hobby, and now its a way to make some extra cash. (By breeding, that and I get to keep more birds =)))

I have always wanted chickens. I didn't convince my family until I was so old it is hard work for me now. I love every minute of it! I have seven hens and will be getting a couple more soon. I love watching them interact with each other and me. One of Gods creations, the chicken!

I started researching where my food came from. Chicken factories freaked me out ( so cruel ) . So I decided to raise a few hens for fresh eggs. Sounds logical right?
That opened to the door to finding this site & the crazy world of chickens lol. I love my girls & there individual personalities.

Entertainment! They are super fun. We currently have 21 of assorted breeds, mostly RIRs. The great eggs are just a plus!

I got chickens because I was tired of paying for feathers to paint on! Little did I know how much fun they would be and how much better their eggs are than store bought.
