Why you shouldn't put your chickens near your face.

Oh my gosh! A beak to the eye has been one of my fears. I wear prescription glasses but from time to time I'll venture out without them... that is never going to happen again. My rooster got my hand once when I accidentally frightened his sister, it broke the skin very slightly. When retelling the tale (which, for the purpose of annoying my family, is at least once a day) I'm fond of using the phrase "Like a bolt of lightening".

Wishing you a full recovery.

Oh yeah -- I have a brother that wears an eye patch AND a hair piece.

Thank you for posting this. My DS was sitting nose to beak with his hen today, and I didn't think anything of it. I read your post to him and said "No more!" He can only see well out of one eye as it is, so it could be very tragic...
Thank you for throwing yourself in the line of beak fire so we could all learn.

Ouch...now i am going to have nightmares of my chickens running in the run chasing each other trying to get my eyeball from each other ! One of my girls grabbed my diamond earring and almost got it. It was hanging by a thread..so to speak. Hope your eye is okay.

OMGosh ~ I hope you are ok!

My broody got me in the mouth once. Bit me on the lip and got yucky dirt and chicken spit all in my mouth

So, the doc said my eye will be a-okay! He said the abrasion is already 95% healed and it appears that there's no scarring thus far. He said the last bit of healing usually takes a good month or so, and there's a chance I may have chronic irritation, in which case I'd just have to use lubricating eye drops indefinitely. I'm just very thankful to have my sight! Thanks, everyone!

My goat once caught me with her horn right below my eye, I mean RIGHT below. She cut my lower eye lid open. Im too scared to let her have her head now when I pick her up. Im reall sensitive to eye injuries. Especially after that story where that chimp popped that woman eyes out and ate them.
