Widower Gander, what to do

I got back from college two days ago. My father told me that my goose, Cheese died suddenly a week ago. She had been nesting and was found dead in the pond with no apparent cause of death. Crackers, my gander was very attached to her and wouldn’t go anywhere without her. They’ve been together since they were goslings. Now that I’m home he follows me around and honks and squawks nonstop if I go inside. He’s taken to standing outside whatever window is closest to me and pecking at it. He also no longer goes into the pond and has taken to sleeping on the back porch. I get he is lonely. How do I fix that?

So I’m actually rescuing a 2 year old African goose after I made some calls but that’s going to be a little bit of a long process since I’m getting her from a government facility any advice on what to do in the meantime?
