Hi,
I'm currently looking for some Golden Pheasants and came across this ad on Craigslist. I couldn't believe what it said on it.

How could anyone eat such a beautiful Golden pheasant?

I understand if they were talking about Ringneck pheasants that are hunted. I'll stay away from this seller.

It's unclear but I think the adult pheasant are ringnecks and they are the ones for hunting and eating. I've never bought golden pheasants but at 25 bucks for adult birds, that sounds like a bargain for such a beautiful bird. Regardless, I'm sure golden pheasants are hunted and eaten in their native land.

they talked definately about goldens

You have to remember what seems weird here is normal for others in other countries. It's a little more expensive to eat then a ringneck, but some cultures love em.
In N.H.,Tony.

I know a local person had too many golden/yellow golden/amherst pheasants last year and couldn't sell them at good prices so they started selling them as bird dog training birds

I'd hate to give $25 for one and then eat it. Especially when I could get a ringneck much cheaper and it would have a lot more meat on it.
