Wild Animal Attack!! Please Advise

sounds like you've gotten plenty of good advice thus far; I just wanted to add my condolences on your loss of Dot, and my well-wishes for the complete healing & recovery of your other ladies.

And a word about foxes- I've had one come into the back door of my barn and kill a kitten. They are gorgeous, wily (naturally) and once they zero in on a buffet, they eat *everything*, burying approximately one carcass a day until the source is gone. When you get your run finished, do NOT let the hens out at all until you are sure your predator is gone, even if the hens are supervised. A fox can hide less than 3 feet away without you noticing. I had one come up to my knees after a feral cat that had run up my body and was perched on my head (ouch). And at that time there was no rabies in the province. Be very careful or this animal will have everything edible, mammal, amphibian, reptile or bird, on your property.

Thanks everyone for the great information. Your support is very much appreciated.

I dont know exactly what got into the yard, I think you all bring up some good points about dogs and the fox info is very good. I will just have to be more vigilant in the future.
