i have had a couple tiny, wild birds but now every time i walk out about a fifty follow me and eat the chickens treats! I don't know how it is possibe! I never even knew we had so many birds:eek:! Anyway could do anything to make sure that the chickens don't catch anything from these birds?
:barnie

They are probably fine. Predators will quickly remove any ill bird. Just stop feeding the birds.

yes, it's possible they can catch parasites of various kinds as well as disease from wild birds that fly over head and land droppings in their pen but other than occasionally worming when/if needed, I don't think it's worth worrying about unless a problem arrises. for where I live, having the run covered is important with all the rain, so it's not an issue at all.

:)Thank you!:D Hoping the birds find a new place for food!:jumpy

I used to keep grain out for the girls all the time, then cardinals moved in. Just a pair at first and I did not mind feeding them. But that quickly changed and there were hundreds, and 50 lbs of grain gone! I no longer put the feed out that way, but the birds still come and check 2 years later. I know things are hard for them in the winter, but I cant feed the whole flock!
